I'll be flying west from the Southeast coast if the US to the Hawaii time zone in several weeks. I am concerned about the effects of jet lag, because the day after arriving in the distant time zone, I will be boarding a cruise ship. I don't want to feel wiped out and unable to enjoy the first couple of days of the cruise.
I already know that I have problems with it because every time I fly back from Las Vegas, I am a zombie for 2-3 days. No problem on the outbound leg - - just the return trip. (And we are not night owls when we are in Vegas)
Any suggestions you can offer will be much appreciated.

Now this article has me confused. If I'm traveling westward through three time zones, when are you supposed to take the melatonin? Morning or Evening?

      >>>Indeed, a paper documenting the incidence of jet lag on the cabin crew of a commercial airline published in 2004 by the "Indian Journal of Aerospace Medicine" found that melatonin delays the circadian rhythms when taken in the morning and advances them when administered in the evening. As such, melatonin may enhance the quality of sleep you get, or worsen it — depending on when it's taken.<<

Overcoming Jet Lag, the most famous book in the world about jet lag and how to stop it, has been updated and revised. You can find it over at www.thecureforjetlag.com. I'm the original coauthor. Dr. Charles F. Ehret died last year before the new edition could be released. Overcoming Jet Lag, now titled The Cure for Jet Lag, has just been published and can only be purchased online, not at Amazon or B&N.

I promise you if you follow the simple 3-step system in the newly revised edition, you will never experience jet lag like you have in the past. Never.

Forget melatonin. You don't need it. There's a completely natural remedy that air travelers seem to have forgotten about because Berkley Publishing allowed the book, Overcoming Jet Lag, to go out of print. Go to www.thecureforjetlag.com and pick up a copy of the newly updated book, Overcoming Jet Lag, now called The Cure for Jet Lag. This is the most famous book in the world about jet lag and how to stop it. (I'm the coauthor with Dr. Charles F. Ehret, world famous chronobiologist and authority on how to stop jet lag.) The U.S. Government paid for his research and the U.S. Army Rapid Deployment Forces use the simple 3-step system Dr. Ehret developed. No one has to experience severe jet lag anymore.  Lynne
